Cobra And The Economic Stimulus
A nice benefit on the Oboma Stimulus bill is the help from the Federal Gov with the cost of COBRA. For those that don’t know COBRA is a form of temporary health insurance for people that are unemployed.
What they are paying is 65% of the COBRA premium up to nine months. This is a large payout considered COBRA is not cheap.
How do you get this benefit? You had to left your job between September 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008. And you need to make less than $125,000 a year.
Think about this: The average cost per familty for Cobra is $1084 per month. That is pretty high. This benefit is worth over $600 per month. Not to bad. A nice way to make sure you have insurance while you are trying to find a new job.
Health insurance is something you definitely don’t want to be without for a long period of time. There really is nothing more expensive than medical bills.
