FICO Score Range
There are thousands of different credit score but the most widely used is your FICO score. Because there are so many check scores the credit score range can actually be different depending on the score you choose to check. For example, a Vantage Score ranges from 440 to 990.
The FICO score range is from 350 to 850 and the higher the number, the better the score. Also, you need to understand lenders often pool individuals in groups of scores. For example if you have a score above 750 and as high as 850 you would be considered as having an excellent credit score.
Here are some recognized groups on the FICO score scale. But by no means are these set in stone. They can change based on the what the market realizes is good, fair, poor, etc. And you should realize, your lenders are the ones who decide if you are approved for a loan and what interest rate you will get so they are the real people who determine how good your score is on the FICO score range.
- Excellent FICO Score: 750 – 850
- Very Good FICO score: 700 – 750
- Good FICO Score: 680-700
- Fair FICO score: 620 – 680
- Poor: 550 – 620
- Bad: Lower than 550
